Found a pair of the first 0.1 version of the speakers that had FOCAL dual 8 ohm voice coil replacement woofers, instead of the original Watkins 902-0470 5in unit. No one has parts for a rebuild as one FOCAL has one open voice coil.

After looking for original Watkins 0.1 woofers, that have dual voice coils, could only find original 0.3 woofers with single 4 ohm voice coils. The original crossovers when modeled in LT Spice have very different responses for each coil, so will not work. They have been removed from the cabinet and new biamp binding posts installed. I added a 1.25A fuse like the original on the EMIT planar tweeter.

To start have s notional Audio Weaver DSP crossover for the dspNexus 2/8 running for measurements. The EMIT's have response well beyond 20KHz, so that is one reason they are interesting. It is not flat, so time for REW measurements some EQ.

First measurement was an impulse response to get the timing between the woofer and EMIT corrected by 13 time samples at 192KHz sample rate. Easy to delay the tweeters!

Next will be listening seat measurements for full correction.

About those Uber busses...

How do you like them? Have you compared them to any other power line filters?

Did they make a noticeable improvement? How would you describe what differences you heard?

Thanks!

Stuart

Stuart,
I have 15A and 20A ZeroSurge's and the DigiBUSS, UberBUSS and BlunderBUSS in the system. I know Dave and discussed them with him.

The ZeroSurge limited the current on Class AB amps, but no problem with Class A amps. The UberBUSS and BlunderBUSS do well for those amps without current limiting. The background noise floor is lower and grounding is clean for multiple devices on one BUSS.

The DigiBUSS works well for the Class D amps and SMPS and digital audio/PC's. The UberBUSS is not recommended for Class D, SMPS and digital devices, as those are for analog equipment.

I used a signal sniffer at the wall and out of the BUSS's to check noise floor and they work.
