Not Ford, but Nissan. I never had a Ford break down on me at $50K miles.

Well, at least it is a successful consumer audio company that acquired McIntosh and Sonus Faber. Much better than a company that doesn’t understand the business, brand and customers.

It appears that Amar Bose didn't start his company producing high-quality equipment. The apparent game was to market cheaply made ALM (Acceptable Level of Mediocrity) products with a lot of promises.

How long will it take Bose to dilute Mac and Sonus Faber to level?

It is clear from the press release that Bose is looking at expanding it's presence in the high-end OEM automotive audio electronics market, where McIntosh and Sonus Faber are considered premier brands in luxury vehicles (as ridiculous as it is to see blue VU meters on car audio display). So maybe they will not mess around with their core home audio business which really is the basis for these brands. It could be argued that McIntosh already sold out, frankly blue VU meters on a turntable?! (what I saw *MAY* have been a joke, but they tend to use any excuse to have them on everything they build).

There is more to the story. McIntosh SS components are not longer deigned in house but provided by Denon -- the actual OEM. I have a CD MAC transport and the mother board and laser assembly is sourced from Denon. Additionally, a MAC service guy confirmed the Denon source for all its SS electronics.

Not surprised at all, in fact, it makes sense to farm out design and production of component sub-assemblies where it is too specialized or costly to design and fabricate in-house. Better to make these overseas where the design expertise and high production/low cost fabrication facilities are located, and just do the overall product design and final assembly locally.
