A the moment I have a Xonar D2 and a Emotiva UMC-200. I will first try the D2 for an ADC and try both the D2 and the UMC-200 as DAC's. I my system I wish to do everthing via my htpc -
1. Running Ubuntu 16.04 with alsa (pulse audio turned off).
2. Using Kodi as a audio/visual server.
3. Use ecasound as a dsp equalizer/crossover (postprocess Kodi audio output).
4. Use the D2 line in as my phono input (turntable has built in phono preamp).
5. Route D2 line in to ecasound post processing to play records live (write add on to Kodi so I can do everything audio/visual via Kodi).
Note that the UMC-200 has a direct mode that disables all dsp processing so it can be use purely as a DAC with the advantage that the analog volume control and the analog channel amplitude trims still work (digital input is via hdmi).
I am using Richard Taylor's tutorial on how to use ecasound to implement a dsp crossover.
