Re: Open Baffle Planar servo sub speaker project

Need to do another full set of measurements as the digital crossover was sending the wrong time delays to the drivers. Was able to correct the EQ.

Fixed it and did some listening. Now we have something really good to listen to!

My best explanation is like listening to a really good full range driver with real bass response from the servo subs. :)

Good work on a long project!

Guy,
Thanks!

Now to see how good I can really make them! :)

Warming up the Pocket CLIO system and MIC-02 for more measurements of the Pulsing Quasar line array's.

Now that I know how to set the time gate properly, lets see what happens. The original measurements had the test signal imbeded in the response that was not being removed correctly.

Now this looks more like a speaker response plot! Finally got the time gate working on Pocket CLIO.

Looks like a decent midrange. Did not try to run it with a 2.83VAC log sweep for a standard sensitivity run at this point.

Got Math Audio Room EQ running with Foobar2000 today and started to make some room and speaker correction measurements. Worked with just the line array, so will do it again with the servo subs running as well.

This sounded very interesting to me using the flat response mode of Room EQ.

Here are the before and after plots of Math Audio Room EQ after measurements of the FPS line array and servo subs. The grey graph is the original measurement and the white graph is the corrected response.

Are these from a single position or averaged multiples?

This was from a single position, but the software allows multiple positions to be averaged together. It tests right and left channels independently. This was just a simple start testing the software. Put the mic in the middle between the speakers at head height.

The next stage of the open baffle line array begins. Went to the Amish woodworker that I have been working with for years and had him build the baffles for the next version open baffle line array. These will be called The Megaliths.

The baffles are setup for 22 - BG Neo3-PDR tweeters and 8 - Neo10 midrange panels. Since the Neo3-PDR's are not available from PE until July, will start with just the Neo10 drivers and then use Math Audio Room EQ to flatten the response to 20KHz.

Here is a picture of the baffles before finishing. Did the test fit of BG drivers yesterday and after a small tweeter spacing adjustment, the finish will be put on and hopefully ready for pickup Saturday to start building.

Will be using the same beamforming idea on these as the Pulsing Quasars with adjustments for the new planar drivers. Each driver will also have it's own power amp module as before. Have all the moded Gainclone style amps built and tested for 16 channels.

Cut the 16 Belden 1309A speaker cables for the Neo10's yesterday and will be prepping them for driver connection this week.
