Re: Open Baffle Planar servo sub speaker project

See if it goes away with one. It may be comb filtering off the adjacent ends.

Ok, will get another measurement of a single. Just have to disconnect the speaker cable from one driver.

Here is a single FPS driver in the open baffle. The one above center for reference. The comb filtering is not as pronounced, but there. Time gate is 5.4mSec, so below 188Hz it will have artifacts in the measurement.

I think it is time to stop for the day and enjoy a beer! :D

Almost done. Just some wiring left, but that has to wait for a week. It's beer time!

With the ripples driving just one it is probably reflections from the one driver off the support frame or the frames of the adjacent drivers. Can you test one driver in free air? Maybe you could hang it from the ceiling with some fishing line. It would be interesting to see if they went away.

Will try it after 23 April.

Good news from PE. They are not discontinuing the FPS driver I used, and new stock should be in next week.

Now time to get more beer and look at the beach.

The frequency response plot for one FPS planar in open air. This is in a different spot and had a reflection at 1.4mS, so cut the frequency response at 1KHz. Still see some ripple in the response, so some of it is from the planar itself and the rest from the baffle.

First test of 8 channels of amps running 8 of the FPS planars with the servo subs.

They are making music. https://youtu.be/gVYR0-6X_uE

Next is adding the last 4 amps and FPS drivers.

Second test all 12 amp channels and 12 FPS planars are running and making music.

Tomorrow is seeing how the setup measures with the servo subs.
