Many of us use step drills for making tube socket holes in amplifier chassis.
If you have struggled with the performance of step bits, it might be worthwhile to buy a better one.

I been using the HF step drill for quite awhile
It was the only thing that would drill. 1/2 inch hole in a stainless steel chassis I had

For doing DIY tube amps using step drills is a very tedious crude way to go about it. Chassis punches get the job cleanly and with little effort or mess.

Hello FerdinandII,
I watch him from time to time and this was a great review I too have a few in my tool set my favorite is my Klein brand I use my GreenLee hole punches a lot too .
