Shashi,
I am concerned about propagating a Trump campaign (and conservative media) attack line on Biden, one that is surprising since Trump has a strong history of dementia in his family, and has been pretty incoherent and rambling in alot of his statements as of late. Kind of like the old phrase "the pot calling the kettle black".
I am concerned about Biden's age, don't get me wrong. I know that he will decline over stress of the presidency. He was not my first choice. But he exhibits decency and humanity, and a willingness to listen to others. His speeches are coherent, thoughtful and moving. He may have an occational slip of speech, if you are speaking publicly, particularly off the cuff, it is not uncommon for words to be twisted or an incomplete or erroneous recollection. He has been in public life a very long time, and therefore there is alot of memories to recall that can be fact checked against what is known publicly or stated previously. It is very easy to take a few instances of slips (which happen to all of us, BTW) and expand them into some theory that he is suffering from serious dementia.
I believe Joe Biden views himself as a bridge to the next generation of leaders. And I hope and trust that will extend to his choice of a VP candidate, since it is likely that person will be president, either during his elected term (I hope that is not the case), or as his successor in 2024. (BTW, it would be an interesting situation that there could be two Indian-American candidates opposing each other for President in 2024!)
The whole argument about Joe Biden's mental competency is a canard, and frankly, one of the only lines of attack that the Trump campaign can employ, since it is clear they are being beaten by their own candidate's demonstrated lack of competency as President. It is trying to drag Joe Biden down to Trump's level and neutralize any difference between them.
However, with Trump, we are staring into the abyss. His view of the Presidency is a strongmans' view, and democracy will die from it. He view of power is absolute authority, succession is like a King, passed to his family. I look at what is happening in Portland with great concern, since it is appearing the administration is deploying unidentified federal agents and/or contractors to crack down and detain protesters, without due process, the presence of these forces and action taken over the opposition of the city and state governmental leaders, and actually constitutes a violation of Constitutional power division between the State and the Federal governments. This is secret police behavior, and concerned that Portland is a test bed for future suppression of dissenters and political opponents throughout the country. I did not think this could ever be possible.
This is the most important election of my life. [/soapbox]
Anyway, enough. We are all friends in DCAudioDIY land, and lets keep it that way. We may have our differences politically, I know I am politically opposite of Roscoe or even perhaps Pete, but they are still friends that I enjoy talking to, being with and having a good time listening to music and equipment. I want to keep that with you, and hope that anything I am saying is taken in a good spirits. I know we are probably not going to change each other's minds, but it is good to speak openly, even if there is disagreement.
I am looking forward (when it safe after Nov. 4

) to hear your horn system, which I take some pride that you have been able to use some of my handiwork for.
Respectfully,
David
