I have been using jRiver on my laptop as a player for testing and also just for music when working at home on my PC. The other day, both jRiver and Windows Explorer suddenly refused to see my network drives. Restarting did not bring the recalcitrant PC into submission. I could ping all the devices and the right hand side of explorer could see them and even allow me to pin them to the Quick Access section of Explorer so Windows knew they were there. What to do? Google to the rescue, sort of. After about a dozen false starts from people claiming to know the solution I found the real answer. It is outlined in the attached document. After following the procedure, all is well again. Aren't computers fun? NOT.

SMB was the target of some pretty serious malware last year, so Microsoft locked it down pretty tight in response. |
