Need to beef up the wire gauge to handle the current. 240W at 48V/5A is alot to push down thin wire for a typical USB Type C cable. Safe current for 24 ga. copper is around 3.5A, would need to go to at least 22 ga. wire. David |

It's amazing that the new spec is 10 times the original USB. Before you know it they will probably come with a whole house generator attached. ![]() |

Yes, using the new GaN SMPS USBC 45watt supply and the cable is rated for 100 watts. That is 20V@5A, but the current does not go up at lower voltages. Probably due to connector pins in the USBC plug/jack more than wire diameter. |
