Plastic vs metal

When our buddy Phil left for Florida, he gave me a homemade extension cord with a two outlet box. I use it occasionally.
I damaged the outlet cover. It was plastic. I snatched one from the rental office. It is metal and bigger. Can't really use it because it over laps the plastic outlet box. So, I need a smaller plastic one.
I was thinking. Does a metal cover vs plastic cover cause any kind of issue?

They make plastic outlet covers that are pretty hard to break now. Either plastic or metal should overlap the edge of the box, it makes no difference which you use other than personal preference.

Nylon is the key. At the local hardware store.

I snagged a smaller plate and replaced it.

Roscoe,
Check behind your fridge. You might need a new wallplate.

Is that why my fridge sounds a little veiled?
