Has anyone in the group tried to build Hegeman or Morrison type speakers - http://www.roger-russell.com/omni/omni.htm#onea https://www.morrisonaudio.com/ My math teacher in college has a system with Hegeman speakers, Mac Intosh integrated amp, AR turntable, and a Weathers cartridge. Back then (1968) it sure sounded good to me. |

Are there any links where you can see the tweeters on the modern Ohm speakers. The Larsen speakers are not really omni's are they? Has any member tried to build a speaker like the Hegeman or Morrison? |

From the picture it does not look like the ohm high frequency driver is omnidirectional. Aside from the link you sent me there seems to be very little information online about it. |

It looks like Hegeman used old cigarette butts as damping material and glued them on his woofer cones in one those pictures? ![]() ![]() I got a set of 1/4 wave tuned pipe speakers that have a single "full range" driver firing up at the top. It uses a clear plexiglass baffle over the driver to "aim" higher freq out towards the listener. It actually sounds pleasant. Sort of a point omni source except I should probably replace the flat baffle with a ping ping ball or something? These were placed in the waiting room of my wife's office and connected to a PeachTree integrated, system is used for background music. I would think this type speaker would make greater demands on room design and placement (like corner horns)? brombo wrote: Has anyone in the group tried to build Hegeman or Morrison type speakers -

I think you are correct- it appears limiting omni high frequencies is intentional. https://ohmspeaker.com/technology/#cohe ... rce-driver |

If anyone ever wanted to try the Morrison design there are a lot of different stainless steel balls available on amazon - https://www.amazon.com/s?k=stainless+st ... _sb_noss_1 https://www.amazon.com/s?k=hollow+steel ... _sb_noss_1 The questions would be what size ball, how high above the tweeter should it be mounted, and what tweeter (midrange) to use? |
