A few years ago a friend gave me his grandfather's Rek-O-Kut T12. I dug it out recently, unfroze and lubricated the platter, which now spins nicely. The motor is in good condition. The 33 idler wheel was left locked in place for 30 years so has a dent. Terry Witt can rebuild it for me. So what to do with it? When I was in college the campus radiop station was upgrading and tossed out their old Russco broadcast tables with the wooden tonearms. I grabbed one and propped it up on bricks. I still remember the wonderful woody tone from strings that thing produced. Does anyone know what model tonearm that was?
Should I build a plinth? Or maybe I could coax David McGown to make me one when he's able to? (hint!). I'd need advice on mounting a tonearm.
