First mod to the stock board after listening will be to short out the 2 - 100uF coupling caps from the DAC. The DAC uses switched capacitor filters and has no DC offset.

With the 49720 dual opamp, should be no need for the coupling caps.

No schematic? How can you guys apply a DIY device without a schematic?

There is an output stage schematic and I2S Bus input diagram and AK4497 data sheet. All I need.

That's what I'd like to look at. Also, the number of the IC op-amp used in the output.

AK4497 chip itself is about $52 on Mouser. They are selling the finished DAC with all the bells and whistles for $116. Not financially feasible. Most likely all the components including the opamps are cheap Chinese imitations.

As long as the pc board functions, getting a known AK4497EQ and better opamps since they are socketed.

Even the AK4490EQ board I have that was $26 has a $5 DAC ship in low quant. The chip price drops by half in quantity.

The AK4497EQ in quantity is $44 at Digikey for a $118 board. Still may be fake or a second, so will see what happens.

Now to get some power supplies resurrected.

There seem to be three different AK4497 boards available on e-bay. One of them uses two AK4497s, the other two only one. What made you pick this board over the other two?

Shashi - Which one do you have?

Roscoe,
The one I have comes with the AK4497 installed. The others are boards close in price for dual AK4497's comes without the DAC chips. You have to buy and install them.

Unless you can do SMD soldering, you have a non-working board.

I have the board from DIYINHK. I had the Chinese dual mono AK4495 DAC which failed with Burson mono opamps. To my ears, DIYINHK stereo AK4495 DAC sounded better than the ebay dual mono. I am going to stay away from Chinese DACs on eBay.

Next spring I am planning to get into DIY dual mono AK4497 DAC.
