Just to let everyone know I am all digital all the time. No phono system is connected.

Bring flash drives or CD's and I can play them. Other than that, it is my library of music.

Everything is here and in storage until after the holidays and start building in early January.

Servo sub modules #1 and #2 glued today and drying overnight. Working on #3 and #4 tomorrow.

If you want an easy way to finish mdf (black) I suggest the following.

1. Sand the hell out of it with progressively finer sand paper.
2. Cover all the surfaces with a large indelible magic marker (black).
3. Finish with shellac with black dye added (shellac and dye available at the Woodworkers Club).

4. If you have surfaces with sharp edges use matte black Formica (order from Home Depot) applied with contact cement and cut to size after gluing on with a guided bit trim router.

Example above. Front surface finished with 1, 2, and 3. Back top and sides finished with 4 (actually all sides of the subwoofers are finished and all but the bottoms of the CBT36k's are finished).

Have a finishing shop that is going to paint them hot rod black as they are doing for my 6x12 cabinets.

Test fit the first cabinet together and looks good. Time to build the second one. Now that Snowmageddon is here probably not going anywhere soon.

For open baffles glue is enough since the forces on the joints are not great. If you are using mdf for a closed box system in addition to glue I would use confirmat screws.

I had an auto body shop paint my eggs with the same PPG black metalic paint that is on my wifes car. After seeing the photos of what he went through you don't want to try it yourself. To get a smooth finish across the glue joints he had to use something known as icing in the trade.

That is why I am having the auto finishing shop do mine. The test they did on my other cabinets looks really good. They have a massive paint facility that will even fit MACK trucks. They can do the entire cabinet painting at one time.

I am happy to have them do it.
