Way to go..... great job on a first build - any build, really.
Give the drivers a little time to break in, before you make your final impressions of the sound quality.

I like ... I'm jealous. Good work - I bet you feel good now that it's done, too! ;)

Glued the second baffle on tonight. Will finish installing the drivers tomorrow after the glue has had 24 hours to set nice and hard.

It does feel incredible to have built something as nice as they look. Not bragging or anything- as there are plenty of imperfections I and everyone else could point out, but I am still amazed at what is capable via diy method.

Looking forward to getting them in the living room- letting Audessy do its thing and listening to some great music. Will definitely put up some pictures of both completed and wiped of all the fingerprints lol

Thanks again for all the support guys, really appreciate it.

Got the second cab finished tonight and have been listening for the last few hours. Pretty amazed. Hats off to Paul's design as the sound far exceeds nearly everything I have heard in a bricks and mortar store. The fact that I made them from nothing but plans puts it over the top lol

can you tell me the particulars as far as efficiency and ease of drive for tube amps and the like?

Randy,

You can find all the particulars on Paul's website. https://sites.google.com/site/undefinition/core-2-way He includes graphs for frequency response as well as impedance. Per his description- it would be listed as an 8ohms nominal speaker. Based on the graph I would estimate a mid 80-s for efficiency. I am powering mine with a Marantz at 50wpc, and had them at a pretty loud level last night, and that was only half volume. Also drove them with an older Kenwood integrated amp for testing- which is rated at 40wpc- and had similar results. I would consider them pretty efficient and amp friendly- as they are driven easily with my receiver. Tube amps- I am not familiar with, so I cannot speak intelligently about how tubes would drive them. But I would think with at least 15-20 watss- that would be plenty to drive them.

Looks good! I am sure you will be experimenting with placement, that can also make a large difference (good or bad) in terms of how they sound.
