It's been my experience that once Microsoft got Windows 10 going that just about all of the legacy products that run on Windows 7 became just so much junk -- save for a few.

On-line communication became almost impossible because browsers were upgraded with 10. Then there is the memory issue. Windows 10 eats memory (or should I say wastes memory) like a hungry dog will hoover a pound of meat.

Before Windows 10 finally calmed down I had to increase my RAM to 2-gBytes. WTF?!

It is time to upgrade. There are plenty of good deals out there. You just have to shop around.

Most machines now have sufficient RAM that Windows 10 is not an issue. My old HP laptop has 16Gb and I just got a refurbished HP desktop from Amazon to act as a Roon Bridge for $230 and it has 32Gb, an i7 processor and a 1Tb SSD. I am connecting to it remotely with NoMachine at Roscoe's suggestion.

ReactOS is working, but is a bit slow. Internet works, but browser is slow. Whatever that virus program that you can include from them, is definately taking forever just to scan.

Overall, I consider it sucessful. I loaded an alternative operating system (which was a goal) and loaded an alternative operating system virtually (which was another goal).

Anybody use Windows to create a virtual drive with the program that you use to reassign drive letters and such?

I have installed VMWare Player (free) on my Ubuntu 20.04 machine and installed Win 10 as a virtual machine. I try to use windows as little as possible. I use it to run IMGburn, CD label printer (Canon printer), programming Logitech Harmony remotes, and programming miniDSP processors/crossovers.
