I've had prior knowledge of Dhar's latest build. Super noice! Looking forward to hearing them. Love the "Luke, I am your Father." aspect.:-)

It does indeed - but the top cabinet tilts down about 7 degrees. They were designed with a listening distance of approximately 2.5m, which is roughly how far my sofa is from the speakers in my main-level living room, and the basement listening room.

At that distance, the tweeter should be pointing directly at the listener's ears. The "acoustic center" of the drivers will also be equidistant from the listener's ears (for those that care about time alignment - which is tough to do without an active system). Current crossover simulation indicates a pretty large vertical window - so listening closer or further away should not make much of a difference - but the ideal distance is about 2.5 meters.

Looks good.

Some progress:

Added rubber gasket below the the top cabinet to prevent slipping, as well as provide some isolation from vibrations (if any) from bottom bass cabinet.

Also installed the tweeter/mid.

Those are looking great Dhar! Anxious to hear them. Perhaps you'll share the horn/ribbon build as well? Those sound really good.

Roscoe, maybe you could separate out Dhar's build to a new thread to encourage him to document it?

Just finished a remake of a prototype 300B amplifier built by David Berning. One of the guys in the Philadelphia group bought it and loved the sound but couldn't stand the looks any more. (it was a prototype) I rebuilt it on an other chasis. Quite a job but he loved the new look. Here are three photos of the before and in the next link I'll send three of the after's

Here are the ones after the remake. I'll be writing it up for audioXpress. Definitely not a beginner's project.

My question is -- where did you get the new chassis from? And for how much?

Here is a link to the chassis on ebay. Note that the freight is almost as much as the chassis. It is quite substantial which makes it strong but cutting the holes required aluminum cutting fluid for the hole saws. It was done on my drill press. I'm not sure how it would have worked if using a hand drill.
