I have compared the pi as streamer to my win 10 machine running either foobar or JRiver and the differences to me are minimal, but in my old age I have not gotten excited about small changes for awhile. I need to dump the pi and my twisted pear dac for professional reasons |

I bought this little Sony for my bedroom a while back. It's lovely, nice clear midrange, very musical: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-2-0-c ... Id=6187501 |

Yes, it's a great deal, and it's also very "discreet"-- very few lights, and you can turn them off. |

Id=6187501 I replaced the Denon receiver with Sony for the midrange in the HT. I figure most of the background noises will come from FM. So, I am looking at stuff with solid FM/AM reception. |

Is that why the Denon was in the basement? |

I did something that gave me great AM and FM reception. I had a Blaupunkt San Francisco car receiver that I took out of my Miata before I sold it and use it as my source at my computer. That receiver got great reviews for it's FM reception and while in the car it had no reception problems. It feeds two Polk bookshelf speakers and works great for background music. It runs from a 12V 7AH gel cell battery that has a smart charger. I used the antenna up signal from the receiver to activate a relay that powers the charger when the radio is on. The charger can provide more current than the receiver draws so it is always charged. The receiver also has an aux input so I have an external switch so that I can feed my computer sound directly to some small speakers or if I'm playing something more substantial I can redirect the signal to the aux input of the receiver to feed the Polks. |

Is that basically a power brick with a UPS battery? |
