Thanks again all for your replies.

Stuart- You brought up some great points, which honestly are making me wonder if I really want to go down this road. I did not realize all that would be required and the many different options there are in this arena. Think I am going to have to strongly consider the cost vs benefit of vinyl. While I would love to listen to some vinyl, I am not sure I can justify the cost of the many components that would be required. Glad you brought these up, as I would have been greatly disappointed to find this out after purchasing some of the items needed.

I'll probably get shot for this comment but most of the people I have spoken with that do high quality recordings say that properly recorded digtital sounds more like the original performance than any iteration of vinyl. In the end it is always a matter of choice because vinyl can introduce a sound that many find very pleasing. If you are doing it for yourself it is all about what floats your boat and no one should try to force you anywhere else no matter how good or bad what you have may sound to them.

Like any other aspect of this hobby, you can start out small, and improve things as you go. You'll (hopefully) learn as you go, and what you end up with down the road might end up being quite different than what you think it'll look like now. I've never seen a DIY'ers system that was 'done' ;)
